From the Milne Library Infobits Newsletter, Fall 2013:
“Just in time for the fall … The newly-created Digital Media Lab Recording Studio is, as its name implies, an extension of the DML and is the first of its kind in Milne Library. It was designed to give the college community a place to record live audio and video and to make screen recordings. Students use the room frequently, as their professors are assigning more multi-media projects, and faculty often use it to create content for their online courses.
The recording studio has three unique areas to support a variety of live recording needs. One is a partially enclosed sound absorption area for making screen recordings (with Camtasia software) and for making audio recordings or podcasts (with GarageBand or Audacity software). The group seating area is designed for those needing to record group audio such as group discussions, focus groups, or interviews and includes space to set up a tripod and video camera to make video recordings. There is also a studio, equipped with a dual- boot Mac Pro with a Blue Yeti microphone, lined with sound absorption material and sound absorbing blankets that can be hung over the doors to reduce outside noise. “
